Food Voices Salon

We are happy to be providing our first Salon event, GMOs Exposed: Meet the Experts for the entertainment community on November 10th in Hollywood.

We will have a well-rounded panel of speakers as we discuss GMOs, food, farms, and local and national activism.

For RSVP details, please e-mail us at [email protected].

Our speakers:

Andrew Kimbrell is an internationally recognized public interest attorney, public speaker, and author. He is the founder of Hollywood Food Guild and Executive Director and founder of Center for Food Safety. He also is Director of the San Francisco based Center for Technology Assessment, co-founder of Foundation Earth, and President of the Board of Humane Farm Animal Care (that administers the Certified Humane label).

Phil McGrath is a 5th generation farmer from Oxnard. The McGrath Family Farm is located 55 miles north of Los Angeles and 7 miles from the coast, which creates a Mediterranean type climate for growing year round. They take great pride in supplying their customers with the freshest organic fruits and vegetables. His practical lessons on the farm have served him well in his work with various regulatory agencies and boards and he hopes to be an important voice for the farm community.

Andy Shrader advises the LA City Councilmember Paul Koretz of Council District 5 on issues related to the environment, water, technology and sustainability, working to ensure the city can meet its present economic, environmental and sociopolitical needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. He staffs the Councilmember on the Energy and Environment Committee and on the Metropolitan Water District board.

Chef Jeremy Fox from Rustic Canyon, a restaurant that offers a regularly changing menu of Farmers’ Market-inspired dishes with ingredients that come from local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen who practice sustainable agriculture. Executive Chef Jeremy Fox, who garnered a Michelin star and great acclaim during his time as Executive Chef at Ubuntu in Napa, brings his own vision of seasonality, simplicity, and quality to Rustic Canyon’s kitchen, resulting in a great neighborhood dining experience.

The evening will be moderated by Nisha Vida, an activist, researcher, producer and currently at 2nd year law student at UCLA.
